By combining Horizontal Directional Drilling and Trenching techniques, a MD7 multiduct was installed, now providing high-speed connectivity to the city of Duderstadt.

Four months after the start, the project has been successfully completed, becoming one of the most significant telecommunications deployments carried out in the area to date.

The aim of the project was clear: to equip Duderstadt with a fibre optic network capable of meeting the current and future connectivity needs of its citizens.

To make this possible, Deutsche Glasfaser placed their trust in Catalana Drilling, entrusting us with the underground installation and fibre blowing works.

The result? A powerful and stable infrastructure, designed to deliver high-speed internet and ready to grow in the years to come.

The terrain, due to its heterogeneity, classified between 1 and 6, and the varying conditions, made the project a real challenge for our team, who had to constantly adapt.

To ensure the success of the project, two drilling methods were used:

• Trenching, used in simpler sections, with the aim of speeding up execution
• Horizontal directional drilling, applied in the most complex areas of the terrain, ensuring precision and safety

The combination of both drilling techniques allowed the project to be developed without compromising the quality of service and provided Deutshe Glasfaser with the solution for the installation of fibre optic cabling.

One of the project’s major achievements was the installation of a 192-fibre cable, which significantly increases transmission capacity and ensures that Duderstadt now has a robust network, ready for an increasingly digital future.

This project reflects how the combination of technical expertise, strategic planning and knowledge of the terrain makes it possible to successfully execute large-scale projects in demanding conditions.
